Winter Gleam at Oaks Park

You may remember that in February 2022 Oaks Park was going to light up at night as part of the Portland Winter Lights Festival, but there was an issue with getting it switched on.

I don't know if that was part of their inspiration for Winter Gleam. If so, I think it had a good effect.

Yes, the various rides are lit up.

Then there are additional decorations.

That includes special decorations around the train route and around the carousel, rides that are included with the admission.

The carousel steeds were also decked out.

You can also play a round of mini golf, though that does have the normal cost.

The course looked great, though it might be hard getting navigating it in the dark.

Skating is also available according to the web site, though it did not seem to be open when we were there.

The arcade was also open, and we did great with the duck scooping game.

Some of the midway games were open as well, and there were some costumed characters wandering around. I saw a Bumble and Mrs. Claus, but we did not stop and chat.

I swear I smelled elephant ears, though that particular booth seemed to be closed.

Really, we mainly just walked around, but that was enough. It is so easy to get caught up in the magic of Christmas lights, and these were beautiful.

COVID: It is very much outdoors, though you could make a case for wearing a mask while in line if it is busy.

Accessibility: The ground is mostly level, but there are places where it gets a little rough, and despite all the lights it is dark. Take that into consideration.

Winter Gleam is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through December 29th. Children five and under get in free, but it is paid admission and you still have to pay for parking. There is an additional cost for photos with Santa.

We really enjoyed it.
