Aloha Community Farmer's Market

Over the past few years, local business and community leaders have been working to make Aloha stronger and more united. There may not be an organized township, but there can still be community.

Much of that organization - including the library and Christmas tree - have been centered around the intersection of Farmington and Kinnamon, and the farmer's market is no exception.

One thing I like is the size. Larger farmer's markets can be somewhat overwhelming, but also repetitive. When there are twelve different places to buy lettuce, how do you choose?

Local farmers are represented, but not with so many booths that you can't do a quick perusal and circle back.
The vendor list includes five family farms, plus two other growers, but they are not all there every week. It feels like a good balance.

Also, there are other types of local businesses. For example, Ah Nuts may be locally grown, but it's the secret recipes that keep you coming back for more.

You can also get little pies...

... or kettle corn.

Entertainment that day involved local dance groups that very much incorporated the spirit of Aloha.

Shave ice was good, but also enormous. I don't think this picture conveys it well enough, but that cup was huge, and it was the small!

Be warned that tamales sell out quickly.

We also got some cookies and bread from Next Dimension Bakery. That was fine, but then we discovered that they had elephant ears, and they package them in a portable manner, so you can take home soft, sweet elephant ears for your family, and that was pretty cool.

You can visit the Aloha Community Farmers' Market from 3-7 PM on Thursdays through September 27th.

It's worth the trip.
